What’s the value of FireWally?
The app allows you to see which applications are using the Internet, monitor their data usage in real-time, track network traffic for the current hour or day, and block or unblock connections with a simple switch.
What macOS versions does FireWally support?
FireWally is compatible with macOS 13.0 and later. The Apple Intelligence features require macOS 26 installed on a Mac with an M1 (or newer) chip.
What do In and Out data mean?
“In” (inbound traffic) refers to the total amount of data being downloaded to your Mac, while “Out” (outbound traffic) refers to the total amount of data being uploaded from your Mac.
How to monitor app traffic with FireWally?
Open the app, and you’ll see the list of applications and data usage displayed next to their names.
How to block or unblock apps from connecting to the internet?
You can block or unblock an app by using the toggle switch located next to each application’s name in the list.
Can I see real-time traffic?
Yes. In the Real-time tab of the firewall window, you can see traffic usage by app. Hover the mouse over the circular icon to see “in” and “out” traffic.
Can I see my traffic usage history?
Yes. Use the tabs for “Hour” and “Today” to view traffic data for those time periods.
How to see the network usage of a specific app with FireWally?
Hover your mouse over the globe icon next to the app’s name. A tooltip will appear showing the inbound, outbound, and total traffic for that app.
How to see why an app is connecting to the Internet?
FireWally uses Apple Intelligence to provide smart insights about each app’s network activity. It explains why an application is connecting, helping you decide whether to allow or block its traffic for better security and privacy.
How to see my total network traffic usage with FireWally?
The total data usage for the selected time period is displayed at the bottom of the screen with “In” and “Out” counters.
How to uninstall FireWally?
- Quit the app.
- Open System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions.
- Scroll down and find the Extensions section → choose the By Category tab → Network Extensions → click the “i” icon → locate FireWally and click the “three dots” icon for it → select Delete Extension.
- Open Finder → Applications folder → locate and remove FireWally to the Trash.
- In Finder, press Cmd+Shift+G to open the Go to folder box.

Navigate to the following subfolders and remove them:
- ~/Library/Containers/com.nektony.Firewall
- ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.nektony.Firewall
- ~/Library/Group Containers/8dkg…..com.nektony.Firewall.group
- /private/var/db/receipts/com.nektony.Firewall.plist
- /private/var/db/receipts/com.nektony.Firewall.bom
- /private/var/db/receipts/com.nektony.Firewall. (any extenions)
Note: The exact list of support files may vary depending on your version of the app or usage. Be sure to carefully check all relevant ~/Library subfolders for any remaining files related to the Firewall app. - Empty Trash Bin and restart your Mac. FireWally will be removed from your Mac completely.
